Resetting a SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive to the initial setting
How do I reset my SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive to the initial setting?
If your SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive is freezing or not turning on, the first thing to try is a reset. This will clear any temporary condition that may cause the drive to freeze or not shut off completely.
NOTE: Resetting the Wireless Flash Drive to initial settings will NOT erase any of your data on the inserted memory card, and the current firmware version WILL NOT CHANGE.
The following settings will be changed after reset:
- Wi-Fi network SSID will be changed to "SanDisk Flash" followed by a combination of 6 digits and letters
- Wi-Fi password will be removed and the security settings will be turned off (anyone will be able to access your Wireless Flash Drive via Wi-Fi).
- Wi-Fi channel will be set to the default (channel 9).
- A file named "WFDSTAT.TXT" will be written to the root of the microSDHC card that contains diagnostic information. This file is typically used for support issues.
- Internet Connection preferred networks will be erased.
To reset Wireless Flash Drive to initial settings, follow these steps:
1. Make sure your Drive is unplugged and off.
2. Press-and-hold the Power button for 15 seconds. Both LEDs light should be steadily on.
3. After about 15 seconds have passed, the LEDs will blink several times to indicate reset is complete.
4. Release the power button.
5. Your Drive will remain on with the reset settings applied.
