iXpand Flash Drive requires a firmware update to support the new Apple iOS9. Failing to update the iXpand Drive will make it inoperable with iOS9.

If you have not yet updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS9, you can update your iXpand Flash Drive firmware by simply updating the iXpand Sync app (to version 1.1.9 or higher) from the App Store. Then plug in the iXpand and allow the iXpand Sync app to update the firmware.

If you have already updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS9, you will have to use either a compatible iOS8 device or a PC computer to complete the firmware upgrade.

Note: The firmware update will not make any changes to your content on the iXpand. However SanDisk recommends backing up your content prior to performing the update.

To update your iXpand, please use one of the following methods:

Using a compatible iOS8 device:

• Go to the App Store and download/update the latest iXpand Sync app
• Plug in the iXpand and allow the app to update the firmware

Using a Windows PC:

• Download the  iXpand Update Tool for Windows PC
• Plug the iXpand into your computer and run the tool.
• The tool will recognize the iXpand.
• Follow the wizard to complete the firmware update.
